Alison and Ben's Musically Rustic Vermont Wedding

While they reside in Paris, Alison's family has roots in Vermont and they decided this would be the perfect backdrop for their special day and we couldn't agree more. Family and friends flew in from all over the world to celebrate this couples love on a perfect Vermont summer day. Their wedding was planned by the amazing Carrie MacMillan of Storied Events and it is always a pleasure to be a part of her creative team. Carrie always works hard to create an event that reflects her couples lifestyle and personalities and while I was at the house photographing Alison getting ready the flowers by Birds of a Flower arrived and I was blown away with the gorgeous flowers,  attention to detail and personal touch. Check out how they incorporated music into the flowers in the images below, and then look at how they decorated not just the aisle of the church, but also the space by bringing trees inside. And as I excitedly photographed the flowers on the music sheets, Alison snuck outside onto the dock to write her note to her soon to be husband. The writing and reading of the wedding day notes is always a special moment to photograph and finding her floating on the edge of the river with a pen in hand was so great.

Then there was the music. Alison and Ben love to sing together and made music a major part of their ceremony. Just before the ceremony began Ben confided in us that he had yet to sing in front of his family, so this moment was a huge moment for him. The singing began, and they sang beautifully. The classic New England church was filled with their voices and there was hardly a dry eye.

After the ceremony we all headed up the rod to the Barnard Inn where the guests were greeted by a jazz band and summer cocktails. Paper lanterns hung from the trees and the tent was ready with flowers and compasses as table cards. As the sun started to set a rainbow appeared for just a minute and then the guests seated for their first dance and dinner.

Congratulations Alison and Ben! We are so excited to hear you are settling into your new home in Paris and more importantly... expecting!!! We had so much getting to know you and can't wait to make your album and see photos of the little one when he or she arrives! ~ Cheers, Matt and Enna

Something I don't get to do often when I travel for weddings is to not only pack my tintype equipment, but also to find the time to use it. On the morning of Alison and Ben's wedding Enna and I were able to hike down the short trail at Quechee Gorge to make this gorgeous tintype.

Bacon Wedding Appetizer, Oh Yeah. This happened.

Attention wedding caterers... Let's Pretend Catering has thrown down the gauntlet. So simple, yet decadent, whimsical, and absolutely delicious. Behold: the tower o bacon, held together with maple syrup, and picking apart assistance provided by masked gunmen.

We will share more images from Anne and Ryan's Reading Farms Estate wedding with Storied Events soon, but we felt that the bacon deserves its own blog post.

Carey and David : Mandarin Oriental Wedding Photography

Carey and David recently married at the Mandarin Oriental in downtown Boston. Their wedding was gorgeous in every way, from Carey and David's excitement to their families' support and Carey's vison brought to life by event planner Amy Goldman. The Mandarin Oriental's ballroom was transformed into a room suited for both the ceremony and reception, with many types of seating, gorgeous floral arrangements created by Charlotte Design. The floating chuppah was made of thousands of white orchid petals strung together - just threading these flowers took over 100 hours to complete. The chuppah floated over the dance floor for the ceremony, and after Carey and David proceeded down the aisle, all their guests gathered close to witness the marriage. When the ceremony ended the chuppah was trimmed to allow for dancing underneath it. This was our first wedding where the reception ballroom was designed to incorporate the ceremony in such a way and it was amazing! Carey's idea was beautiful and created a room full of emotion. Event planner Amy Goldman did an amazing job and we are excited to share these images full of amazing details and happy people! Congratulations Carey and David!!  ~Mattion and Enna

Caitlin & Andrew | Boston Harbor Hotel Wedding Photography

Cowboy boots, anchors, Northern Ireland, Boston and Texas... I think that pretty much sums up Cailtin and Andrew's recent wedding at the Boston Harborside Hotel. Planned perfectly by the always wonderful Linnea Tangorra of Tangorra Wedding Planning, their wedding was full of emotion, fun details, beautiful bridesmaids and a crazy group of groomsmen. Selecting a small enough number of images to share on the blog was a tough one! The dance floor was jam packed with folks jumping to the sound of Night Shift and the toasts we full of love and thankfulness. Congratulations Caitlin & Andrew!  ~Matt & Enna

Jennifer and Dan | Anguilla Wedding Photography

Meet Jennifer and Dan, a fun loving couple from the NYC area who recently tied the knot at one of our favorite wedding venues, Cap Juluca. Nestled on the white sand and blue water coast of Anguilla, Cap Juluca is the perfect location for a romantic and fun destination wedding. Jennifer and Dan knew this as they have visited the island previously and Jennifer's parents honeymooned on Anguilla about 30 years ago. So together with about 5o of their family members and closest friends they soaked in the sun, enjoyed the amazing food, floated in the warm blue water and partied all night celebrating their marriage. The rehearsal dinner was held at the Straw Hat on Mead's Bay. The wedding was held at Cap Juluca with the ceremony on the wedding lawn overlooking the water between Anguilla and St. Maarten. After the ceremony, guests retreated to the cocktail hour at Blue and the reception at Spice, both at Cap Juluca. I love going to Anguilla and visiting all the different restaurants, and each time I visit more and more locals recognize and remember me. On this trip I brought my good friend and fellow photographer Chris Williams with me and I tried to show him that I'm a savvy traveler so I rented a car from an independent company... (not really sure if was even an actual company) and we ended up stuck with bald tires and no a/c. At least the radio worked and we were able to jam to the local radio DJ as he spoke into the echo machine! lol! Jennifer and Dan also brought in fabulous event planner Stephanie Frazier Grimm, owner of Couture Parties in Rhode Island. It was such a treat to work with and get to know Stephanie! The wedding was awesome and as the sun went down and the band started up the dance floor filled and before you knew it guests were diving in the cool water and having a blast. Congratulations Jennifer and Dan!! It was so great being there for you!!  Thank you ~ Mattion
