Kristen & Ty | A Wedding at The Four Seasons Mauritius | Destination Wedding Photography

Enna and I recently set a new personal record for distance traveled to a wedding (sorry Munich). We traveled nearly to the opposite side of the globe to document the wedding of an amazing couple, Kristen and Ty. Kristen and Ty reside in New York City and they love to travel. Their apartment is full of beautiful photos of their world adventures. It was totally fitting that they invited their closest family and friends to join them for a week of celebration, golf, adventure, and bocce on the island of Mauritius.  Their families love telling the stories of them traveling to far away countries with a bocce set and after teaching the locals how to play, leaving them with the set to enjoy. I love that!!  :)

Not wanting a big wedding and wanting to incorporate their love of travel for their wedding they looked around for a fun, new, exciting place to invite their families and closest friends to for their wedding. With both families being serious golfers they found the Four Seasons Maritius Resort Anahita. This resort has a world class golf course, a wild beach, and easy access to the local terrain.

The wedding festivities kicked off with a groom's dinner on the beach overlooking the harbor with a bonfire. The following afternoon the wedding ceremony was held on a grassy peninsula overlooking the wild beach with the volcanic mountain spires of Mauritius behind them.

We were there during the change of seasons, from winter to summer, and the clouds would blow by giving us brief rain-showers To counteract this, Kristen's family has a tradition of tying a bottle of gin in a tree for good luck with the weather... every wedding they have done this for has had gorgeous sunny days!

After the ceremony they participated in a Four Seasons Mauritius wedding tradition of planting a tree in the "Love Forest" (which is a lovely grove of different sorts of native trees dedicated to every couple who has been married on the property), then headed over to the clubhouse where giant bats flew overhead as darkness fell. They dined, danced and toasted into the night.

The next two days held local adventure as we all headed out on a sail to the south end of the island to see the volcanic hills up close and do some snorkeling. Spending time with and getting to know both families on these outings was a real treat and just as another small reminder of how small the world is, on the trip we found out that Ty's brother works with one of our grooms, Sanford. Along the way we stopped by a fish farm and watched dolphins circling the nets looking for escapees. Then we hired a speed boat to take us up a river to a waterfall where we watched local boys spending the day entertaining tourists by jumping off the cliffs over the waterfalls into the pools far below. We saw bats sleeping in the trees and wild monkeys coming to the river's edge hoping for some treats. It was beautiful and a ton of fun!

Congratulation Kristen and Ty!! Thank you for inviting us along on your wedding adventure!!  ~ Matt and Enna

Farrell & Stefan | Cape Cod Wedding Photography | Destination Wedding Photography

Here we go! Can we please have a drum roll as we present to you.... Farrell and Stefan's wedding at the Ocean Edge Resort! A quick back story: They met two years ago at a friend's wedding where Stefan was the best man and Farrell almost didn't attend, but decided at the last minute to go. Farrell says, " Stefan winked at me during the ceremony... and I was pretty much hooked." Stefan lived in London and for the first year of dating they flew to visit each other once a month before Farrell decided to pack it up and live on the other side of the pond. Shortly after moving in together they sailed to Capri where Stefan surprised her with a marriage proposal. They are now living in the States and I'm sure still floating on air after this great party! As you can see from the previous post, we met up with them for the post-rehearsal beach party the night before, where the crazy dancing and singing on the sand was a true indicator of what was to come (in fact, we decided to give the dance floor its own blog post, coming soon). The excitement in the air while Farrell got ready was electric. During the ceremony in cute little Immaculate Conception Chapel in Brewster, everyone's joy (and childhood singing practice) was reflected in the powerful and beautiful delivery of the hymns. After the ceremony, when the trolley pulled up to the beach the party ran out and had a blast! Farrell and her bridesmaids had gorgeous parasols and as you can see Stefan had a nice surprise for his groomsmen as well. At first some of the guys were in a bit of shock that he wanted them to wear colorful socks and bow ties, but once they put them on they couldn't wipe the grins off their faces and they loved showing them off.

Farrell's dress was from Priscilla of Boston, flowers by Vintage Flowers, shoes by Stewart Weitzman and Hair and Make-up by Demiche Beaute.

Check out these crazy fun portraits, folks, and leave some love in the comments...

Anna & Geoff | A Wychmere Wedding | Cape Cod Wedding Photography

What better reason to get excited for a Cape Cod wedding than knowing that you have a beautiful summer day at one of the best venues on the Cape? And top that with an amazing couple! Meet Anna and Geoff, two South Boston residents were ready to burn up the dance floor on their wedding night! Friends knew they'd be a good match so they invited them on a ski trip where they immediately hit it off and have been together ever since. Anna's parents have a place on the Cape where they love to visit and so the Wychmere Beach Club was perfect for them. When we arrived at the family home we were welcomed by a wedding party of Pink Flamingos and a very excited Anna ready to start the day. The ceremony was held on the Wychmere lawn over looking the water with the warm summer sun shining down. Joining us for the day was the always fantastic event planner Jamie Bohlin of Cape Cod Celebrations. Check out the love, folks...

Leslie & Tom | A Belle Mer Wedding

It always beautiful to be on the Newport coast photographing a beautiful wedding, especially when the bride and groom focus on what is important in life. Meet Leslie and Tom, a beautiful couple who met us through the Boston Bridal Lounge and decided to have a waterfront wedding at Newport's amazing Belle Mer and let the focus of the day be about life, family, and friends. The wedding was about family, about generations, about commitment and love. Leslie made sure the wedding was kid friendly as she understands the importance of the next generation, and wanted them to be a part of their celebration. Every now and then she would would come up to us and say something along the lines of "Did you see what the kids are doing?". We did. How could we not? The kids were having an amazing time! They had an amazing time because Leslie and Tom let go of many "traditional" elements of a wedding and allowed the day to be a bit more relaxed, a bit more easy going, and very kid friendly. The Super Band played a beautiful set allowing the guests to enjoy the easy going social aspect of the day. We had a blast being there for them and love their photos and thought we'd share a few of the young at heart, Lelsie and Tom. Check them out folks...

I have to give props to my good friend and make-up artist Zoe for doing what she does best!

Rachel & Aaron : a florida keys wedding

When Rachel and Aaron came to meet with us for the first time we connected with them instantly over two things we love in common: travel and eating good food. Our conversation turned from wedding photography to a discussion about cool restaurants we have found around the globe. And as the conversation went on I jumped up and said "wait a minute, I have to show you a cool book!" I ran out of the studio and back with my new favorite coffee table book showcasing the most unique places to stay in the U.S. It turned out that their wedding venue, The Moorings Village and Pierre's restaurant, were featured in the book!  It was fun and exciting and after they booked us we started planning their engagement session that became an evening at their home with an amazing home cooked meal:) Fast forward a year and we are now posting their wedding photos from this magical place on Islamorada. As you can see from our previous post we started the day of their wedding before the sun came up. We enjoyed the sunrise with them,  and then regrouped in the afternoon for the rest of the wedding day. Rachel and Aaron enjoyed the quiet early afternoon alone getting ready together and we stepped out for some portraits in front of their beach front cottage. Soon after that the wedding party and families arrived for photos before heading to the west side of the island for the ceremony and reception. If you know the Keys, you know the coolest thing about them is the ability to enjoy the sunrise and the sunset on beaches, which is exactly what they did. The cocktail hour was timed perfectly to enjoy the sunset and then they went inside to feast on the fine cuisine created by the master chef at Pierre's. The evening ended with dancing and the following day everyone attended a brunch that had a custom crossword that tested everyone's knowledge of the wedding couple and their weekend in the Keys.

Congratulations Rachel & Aaron! It's so fun to be sharing these with you!  ~Matt & Enna
