We are delighted to share a few of our images from Sharon and Robyn's Ogunquit, Maine wedding! This summer we've worked with several couples who have had to deal with the loss or grave illness of a loved one simultaneous to their wedding planning. We are incredibly moved by the grace with which each of these couples and their families have managed their grief and other mixed emotions, and the ways in which they have honored their loved ones on their wedding days. Sharon and Robyn's wedding day was elegant, joyful, romantic, and loving, and it was a perfect tribute to these two special people and to the love and support their families have given them. We were all overjoyed that Sharon's father Tom was able to conserve enough energy to attend her wedding and he was even able to walk her down the aisle! It was a very special moment, and everyone present shed many tears, including us. Tom was in the end stages of his battle with cancer, and he passed away just one week later.
One thing that Matt and I absolutely LOVE about weddings is the sense of community, commitment, and joy that everyone present bestows on the couple. At this wedding all of these elements were omnipresent, and we were honored to be part of such a special day!
Both brides chose to wear beautiful flowing white gowns, perfect for an elegant beach wedding. They had a fun "flow" planned for their wedding. Immediately after the ceremony, all the guests retreated to a tent next to where the ceremony was held for cocktails and appetizers, dancing, and toasts. After a few hours of "reception" in the tent, the entire party retreated indoors for a cool disco lounge "after-party", with ice cream sundae bar, chocolate chip cookies, and jelly beans. .. mmm!
Thank you Sharon and Robyn for sharing your special day with us! Here are a few of our favorites:
